A socio-political group, Edda Grassroots Movement for PBAT–FON–JOE 2027, has endorsed former Minister of State for Health, Barr. Joseph Ekumankama, as its preferred candidate for the Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was made during the group's inaugural meeting held at John Halt Hall in Owutu Edda, Ebonyi State.
Speaking with journalists after the meeting, the Organising Secretary of the movement, Hon. Orji Patrick, described Ekumankama as the most qualified and credible aspirant for the position, citing his wealth of experience, leadership qualities, and commitment to grassroots development.
Patrick said the former minister has distinguished himself through years of public service and has consistently demonstrated the capacity to deliver effective representation and attract meaningful development to the constituency.
He explained that the movement was formed to mobilise support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, and the election of Barr. Joseph Ekumankama as the next member representing Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
According to him, Ekumankama's emergence would strengthen the constituency's voice at the National Assembly and facilitate greater democratic dividends for the people.
Patrick urged residents of the constituency to support Ekumankama's aspiration, expressing confidence that he would provide purposeful representation and advance the development of the federal constituency.
He also called on members of the movement to remain united and intensify grassroots mobilisation across the constituency to ensure victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidates in the 2027 general elections.
