The Ebonyi State Commissioner for Works, Engr. Stanley Lebechi Mbam, on Sunday received members of the Hausa community in the state under the aegis of the Arewa Youth Development Forum, who paid him a Sallah homage at his residence in Abakaliki.
Speaking during the visit, Engr. Mbam urged Muslim faithful to use the occasion of Eid to pray for sustained peace, unity, and progress in Ebonyi State and Nigeria at large. He emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence and mutual respect among people of different religions and ethnic backgrounds.
He described the visit as a reflection of the growing harmony and integration among communities in the state, adding that such gestures foster trust and strengthen social bonds.
"I want to thank you all for your unity and sense of purpose. Coming together like this builds hope and strengthens our confidence in one another. Your support for the government and your peace-promoting efforts in Ebonyi State have not gone unnoticed," he stated.
Engr. Mbam also called for continued support for the administration of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, noting the governor’s remarkable strides in infrastructure and development within just two years in office.
"The governor has consistently demonstrated inclusive leadership, ensuring that every community, including the Hausa community, has a place in the state's development agenda," he added. "From Sam Egwu to Elechi, to Dave Umahi, and now to FON, Ebonyi has benefited from strong leadership. Governor Nwifuru has continued in that legacy and has even taken it further."
Earlier in his remarks, the Secretary of the Arewa Youth Development Forum, Umar Danjuma Gambo, expressed appreciation to the Commissioner for his service to the people of Ebonyi State. He noted that Engr. Mbam's role as Commissioner of Works has had a profound impact on the daily lives of residents.
"We came to appreciate the Commissioner for the significant role he is playing in shaping the physical and functional development of the state. His leadership in the Works Ministry is felt across communities,” Gambo said.
He also reaffirmed the Forum’s support for the present administration, commending its commitment to equity, justice, and inclusive governance.
"We remain steadfast in our support for the Commissioner and for Governor Nwifuru’s administration, which continues to deliver development that benefits all, irrespective of tribe or religion," he added.
