EBOTRANS GM Nnenna Igwe Dedicates EBSU Good Ambassador Award to Students, Staff, Hails Nwifuru's Leadership





The General Manager of EBOTRANS, Mrs. Nnenna Igwe, has been honoured with the Good Ambassador Award by the Faculty of Education, Ebonyi State University (EBSU), Abakaliki, in recognition of her outstanding leadership, integrity, and contributions to public service.

The prestigious honour was presented during the Faculty's Second International Conference, held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, under the theme: "Harnessing Innovative Pedagogical Technologies for Sustainable Educational Growth and Development."

The conference attracted academics, education experts, researchers, students, and other stakeholders from within and outside Nigeria.

Speaking after receiving the award, Mrs. Igwe expressed profound gratitude to God and the Faculty of Education for finding her worthy of the recognition.

She described the award as a great honour and dedicated it to the management, staff, and students of Ebonyi State University, as well as the entire workforce of EBOTRANS.
She noted that the recognition would inspire her to remain committed to excellence, integrity, and selfless service to humanity.

Mrs. Igwe also commended Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for the confidence reposed in her through her appointment as General Manager of EBOTRANS, stating that his administration's commitment to merit, innovation, and service delivery has continued to motivate public office holders to perform optimally.

She further praised the Faculty of Education for organising a successful international conference that provided a platform for intellectual engagement and discussions on innovative teaching methods capable of transforming the education sector.

The EBOTRANS General Manager reaffirmed her commitment to supporting initiatives that promote educational advancement, youth development, and sustainable societal growth, while pledging to continue serving as a worthy ambassador of Ebonyi State.

The award adds to the growing recognition of Mrs. Igwe's leadership in the state's transport sector, where she has been driving reforms aimed at improving operational efficiency and service delivery since her appointment as General Manager of EBOTRANS.

Reflecting on her stewardship at EBOTRANS, Mrs. Igwe highlighted several achievements recorded under her leadership in less than two years, attributing the successes to teamwork and the unwavering support of the Ebonyi State Government.

According to her, the corporation has expanded its operations by opening new transport routes to Lagos, Ikom, Onuebonyi, Ikwo, Enugu Terminal, and King David University of Medical Sciences, Uburu, while the Ovudu-Echi route has been extended to Onitsha, Benin, Ore, and Lagos.

She further listed the rehabilitation of more than 12 operational vehicles, the renewal of tenancy agreements for over 17 depots across the state, the drilling of a motorised borehole at the Gunning Road Depot, the procurement of four new Sienna vehicles, the installation of solar-powered lighting at the Lagos Depot, and the renovation of the Ishiagu and Abuja depots among the corporation's achievements.

Mrs. Igwe also disclosed that EBOTRANS has prioritised safety and professionalism through the continuous training and retraining of drivers in collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), alongside regular medical examinations conducted by healthcare professionals from Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki (AE-FUTHA).
