Commercial Flight Operations Resume at Chuba Okadigbo International/Cargo Airport Onueke

Commercial flight operations have resumed at Chuba Okadigbo International/Cargo Airport Onueke, Ebonyi State.

The first commercial aircraft, a United Nigeria Airlines plane with registration 5N-8WV, landed at the airport at 10:30 am on Friday with passengers.

The Airline carried passengers from Abuja to the airport.
One of the passengers, Emmanuel Nwafor, described the landing of the aircraft at the airport as a dream come true. "We've yearned and at a point we were even agitating because the volume of investment in this airport by the state government is something this airport should have been classified as one of the best in the country," he said.

Another passenger, Professor Chigozie Ogbu, said the landing of the commercial flight shows that Ebonyi State has arrived. "It was a very smooth landing; the runway is among the best in the country, and it was a good landing, as good as any place in the world," he said.

The Commissioner for Aviation and Transport Technology, Mrs. Ngozi Obichukwu, commended Governor Francis Nwifuru for ensuring that flight operations commence in the airport.

She disclosed that another flight will take off on Monday next week from Lagos and land at the airport, and also from the airport and land in Lagos.
